This metropolitan area of more than half a million people lovingly embraces its cowboy culture while enjoying modernization, and has consistently been nationally recognized for its quality of life. Locals are genuinely accommodating and are always willing to give interstate and intrastate movers a taste of Fort Worth’s warm hospitality. Economy:
Fort Worth has a thriving, diverse economic environment. The city's largest employer is American Airlines and aeronautic research and manufacturing enjoy a long history in the area. The city is the second-largest cultural and economic center of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington region. History:
US Army General William Jenkins Worth, hero of the Mexican War, proposed building a line of ten forts to mark the western Texas frontier from Eagle Pass to the confluence of the West Fork and Clear Fork of the Trinity River. When Worth died, Major Ripley S. Arnold continued the quest for a new fort site near the West Fork and Clear Fork. Arnold eventually established a camp on the bank of the Trinity River on June 6, 1849 and named the post Camp Worth in honor of General Worth. The camp was soon moved to the north-facing bluff. The U.S. War Department officially named the post Fort Worth on November 14, 1849.

Tourism:
Visitors flock to Fort Worth to get a firsthand experience of “Cowboys and Culture,” and they are never disappointed. No other city offers more ways to relive its Western Heritage than Fort Worth. Rodeo is, of course, at the top of the list of must-sees. The Southwestern Livestock Show and Rodeo showcases traditional rodeo each year. The Stock Yard Championship Rodeo Show features trick roping, trick riding, cowboy songs and an entertaining look at history. The Stock Yards is a historical district decorated in a Western motif celebrating Fort Worth’s tradition as part of the cattle industry.

Fort Worth also has something to offer for those with a discerning taste in art. The Cultural District is home to Old World and New World art masterpieces, exotic science and cultural exhibits, exciting performance art theaters and the beloved Will Rogers Memorial Center.
