Moving to West Virginia
Once a part of Virginia, West Virginia became its own state after the American Civil War. The state has a rich history as a mining (coal and logging) and agriculture region, which is also considered one of the most mountainous regions in the U.S. as well as the location of the Appalachian Mountain range. Capital City: The capital city of Charleston is West Virginia.

Population: According to the U.S. Census, 1.9 million people reside in West Virginia.

The state is also a major center for mining, chemical manufacturing, glass products, steel, aluminum and tourism. West Virginia is also the number one producer of coal (second only to Wyoming).
