Moving to Nevada
Nevada is the great state of diverse terraces-from the Valley of Fire to grandiose lakes to big city settings. In the Valley of Fire State Park, there are great expanses of black, brown and red lava deposits surrounded by desert. Visitors usually get to the Valley of Fire through northern roads that come into the valley of the Muddy River. We recommend coming here because of the great sights you’ll see including amazing Aztec sandstone and the White Domes road that provides a very scenic drive. Along the way you will experience sandstone mounds, huge groups of red rock, petrified tree trunks and so much more. These desolate parts of Nevada are surprisingly close to the urban areas such as Reno, Las Vegas, Mesqute and Tahoe. These populated parts of Nevada are important to tourists who come for an experience of a lifetime and to locals that get the benefit tourism in their area. Reno and Las Vegas are especially open to people moving to Nevada and those who are coming just to have fun in one of the grand casinos.

Population: There are approximately 2,643,085 people as of July 2009, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Local Activities: There are the ordinary tourist attractions-outdoor sports, sightseeing, galleries, museums and shows-but then there are the extraordinary experiences that Nevada has to offer. In the big cities of Nevada, air sports are popular, just look up to the sky for some inspiration. There’s parasailing over Lake Tahoe, skydiving overhead of Las Vegas, and hang gliding over the Washoe Valley. Also available in the beautifully serene yet exciting state of Nevada are some sights you can only see here such as: the 720-feet structure of the Hoover Dam, Locklove at Lover’s Lock Plaza and the Reno Arch beckoning the "Biggest Little City in the World."

Economy: Unlike other states that depend on the crops of the Earth for support, Nevada has widespread arid lands that are only good for mining. Nevada is the nation’s leading producer of gold, silver, mercury and formerly, copper. The state also produces Petroleum, diatomite and other minerals. Other than these Earthly treasures that drive Nevada’s economy, tourism also gives the state a big push. The area also sees a lot of new residents that certainly keeps Nevada moving companies busy.

State Bird: The state bird is the mountain bluebird

State Flower: The sagebrush is the state flower.

State Song: "Home Means Nevada" is the state song.

State Nicknames: Nevada is nicknamed "The Silver State" due to the large number of silver mines that it formerly had. It is also known as the "Sagebrush State."

Nevada-Interesting Facts:
  • Nevada has more mountain ranges than any other state.

  • Nevada is the largest gold-producing state in the U.S. and second behind South Africa.

  • Las Vegas has more hotels than any place in the world.

  • Carson City is the capital city of Nevada.

Nevada-Famous People:
Many celebrities have called Nevada home. The former first lady Pat Nixon and the tennis pro Andre Agassi are from Nevada. The singer Jenny Lewis and the BMX rider Carey Hart are also from Nevada.
