Moving to Louisiana
Louisiana has always been a colorful state of mixed culture, people and history. The French, Spanish, English and Confederates have all called the state home. In 1803, Louisiana became part of the United States after its beneficial borders for security and trade mattered a lot to the nation. After the acquisition of Louisiana by Thomas Jefferson, the U.S. became a world power as it gained a powerful hand in trade and finance. As the state grew, it was built on the wealth of plantations. This way of life driven by slaves was shattered after the Civil War. Louisiana is now driven by forestry, oil, natural gas, petroleum refining and tourism. Louisiana and its major cities are nothing like anything else you'll find in the U.S. From its Cajun roots, people have embraced jambalaya, gumbo; turtle sauce piquante; andouille sausage; boudin; cochon du lait and so much more that the locale cuisine has to offer. While in Louisiana, it's also worthwhile to get intoned with the way of life by listening to Cajun music and musicians who play the fiddle, accordion, triangle, drums, and guitars. There is so much to discover in Louisiana even prominent animals you will only find in the areas bayous.

Capital City: Baton Rouge is a city seemingly created for the people who want to have the most fun out of life. It is located about 80 miles away from New Orleans and is a city that is saturated with places and people. It is the home to great colleges and their respective sports team-Southern University and Louisiana State University athletic programs, legendary cuisine, a film and television industry, plantation tours, Mardi Gras festivities and a whole bunch of festivals year round. Living, visiting and moving to Baton Rouge hardly ever disappoints. There is nothing better than Baton Rouge.

Population: There are nearly 4.410,795 people living in the state of Louisiana. There have been an increasing number of people moving to Louisiana. This push of people embracing the southern state has brought tremendous business to Louisiana moving companies.

Local Activities: In Louisiana, it is all about embracing local customs and practices such as eating crawfish, gumbo and jambalaya; listening to Zydeco, Cajun-French music, and traditional Jazz; as well as partaking in local sports such as fishing and hunting.

Economy: Louisiana's economy is propelled by the production of minerals, oil, natural gas, petroleum refining, tourism, forestry, agriculture and food processing, shipbuilding and general manufacturing.

State Bird: The brown pelican is the state bird.

State Tree: The bald cypress is the state tree.

State Flower: The magnolia tree is the state tree.

State Song: Doralise Fontane wrote the official song entitled "Give me Louisiana."
