West Palm Beach, Florida
Access to beaches on a subtropical waterfront are just some of the exciting amenities that await you in West Palm Beach. As the sixth largest city in the U.S., West Palm Beach is located near Palm Beach, Miami and Fort Lauderale that is often touted as one of the best states in the U.S. to work and live. The area is also renowned for its nearly perfect weather (generally over 75 degrees), bustling downtown, scenic views and exciting shopping opportunities. Isn't it time you called a West Palm Beach moving company?
History:
Henry Morrison Flager came to West Palm Beach in 1893 to create a place where his workers could live while they built hotels and resorts in nearby Palm Beach. This "worker city" soon developed as Flager developed street names for native Florida plants -- Olive, Pointettia and Mytle were some examples. The town was incorporated into its own city in 1894 that soon became a bustling area with its own saloons and storefronts. The population of the city tripled from 1920 to 1927; however the Great Depression and hurricanes dropped the property value of West Palm Beach. During World War II, the area became strong again due to military dollars and the influx of veterans who moved to the area. Today, West Palm Beach is an exciting area destination for tourists and the 100,000 residents that call the area home.
Tourism:
From gorgeous and scenic beaches to recreational parks, there is much to see and do in West Palm Beach. Whether it be walking on the sand or hiking in Westgate Park and Recreation Center, there is always something to do. The museums in Westgate are another exciting destination where you can explore modern and contemporary art as well as ancient artificats at the Norton Museum of Art, Palm Beach Maritime Museum and the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County Historical Museum. Kids will also love moving to West Palm Beach where they can experience an exciting eco tour, visit the South Florida Science Center or take in a show or concert with their families at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
