History:
Fort Lauderdale was first inhibited by the Tequesta Indians that was later explored by the Spanish, which was later under control by the United Kingdom and the U.S. It wasn't until the 20th century where any real development took place. During the land boom of the 1920s, the Naval Air Station to train pilots and a coast guard base was established. After 1970, Fort Lauderdale was extensively built that is now a major center for yachting and tourism.
