Stamford, Connecticut

Located in Fairfield County, Stamford, Connecticut is an excellent moving destination for those seeking the amenities of a cultured art center within a small city. History:
Stamford was first inhibited by a Native American tribe who called the area Rippowam. It was later changed when European settlers arrived and was named after a town in Lincolnshire, England. By the 18th-century, Stamford was involved in merchandising by water, and later in 1692, Stamford was the location of a witch trial whose accusations were less fanatical than the trail in Salem, Massachusetts. Around the 19th-century, residents of NY started building second homes or summer homes in Stamford. Later on, more people moved to Stamford of its lower rent and close proximity to NY -- making it a short distance for commuters.

Tourism:
There is much to do an see while in Stamford. Downtown Stamford is certainly the place to go to check out a theatrical performance. From Stamford Theatre Works on Strawberry Hill, Curtain Call on Sterling and the Stamford Center for the Arts, there is always a performance in Stamford. The city is also home to numerous parks and recreational facilities as well as museums such as Cummings Park, Scalzi Park and the nearby Stamford Museum and Nature Center and the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens.
