Anacapa Island is actually composed of five islands like the U.S.’s very own version of the Galapagos Islands. What’s to see there? There are rocks that are millions of years old, rare coreopsis flowers, hundreds of sharks, native white western seagulls in flocks and so much more wild life and sea life. Channel Islands Harbor is a place you want to head if you are looking for family fun. There is so much to do here including have picnics, surf Pacific waves, eat Brazilian food or other ethnic cuisine, venture to the Ventura County Maritime Museum or take whaling tours. There is so much that you have never expected to do here in this Californian city. The Murphy Auto Museum is something you will only find here. It was started by Dan Murphy who has collected over 50 unique automobiles that exhibits over 100 years of automotive history. It’s a relaxing pit stop along the way from the wine, dining and drinks tour of the city.

Oxnard, California does well as the strawberry and lima bean capital of the state of California. There are also two large U.S. Navy bases that are rooted in the city making it a very attractive transportation hub. The Amtrack, Union Pacific, Metrolink, Greyhound and Oxnard Airport connections also add to this highway of transport. Easy access to the city in addition to its extra fertile soil seems to have worked wonders for Oxnard, California as its economy is heavily based upon international trade, agriculture and tourism. The region’s major employers include St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Oxnard Union High School District, Waterway Plastics, the City of Oxnard, Haas Automation, Del Monte, Chiquita, BMW, Land Rover and Jaguar. History:
Oxnard, California got its name from the Greek word that means “sugar.” In the late 1890s, Henry Oxnard and his two brothers started a plant that would produce sugar beets that would be delivered all over the country. That was the start of the City of Oxnard, California has a magnet for business, trade and people. There were Chinese, Japanese, Mexican workers that moved to Oxnard to grow beans, beets, barley and other crops. There are been a population boom ever since the agricultural phenomenon here since the 1940s. The military ports established in Oxnard during World War II—Port Huememe and NAS Point Mugu—are still here supporting local and U.S. naval needs.
