San Francisco, California

The “City by the Bay” is quite an attractive moving destination for people of all ages and as been so for many years. Instituted as a state in 1850, San Francisco is the fourth most populous area in California whose history is rich with the gold rush, summer of love and now one of the finical hubs in the world. Whatever you are seeking you can surely find it in this vibrant city.

Economy:
Since the Gold Rush in the 1800s, San Francisco, California has been an important center for commerce and commercial activity. Also considered a place of global business, San Francisco is a major center for trade and shipping as well as the location of major banks such as Pacific Exchange, one of the largest banks in the U.S. Medical science, tourism and technology are also huge industries in San Francisco. Additionally the city is responsible for the production of boxes, lumber, paints, auto parts, clothing and beverages.

History:
The first known occupants of San Francisco were the Ohlone. Gaspar de Portola arrived in 1775 where in 1776 he founded the Presidio Army Base and later captured the Ohlone population. Later on, Mormon leader Samuel Brannan traveled from Illinois to New York City, and sailed from there around South America to San Francisco. The town became an official part of the United States, and its residents soon discovered gold where over 50,000 people moved to the city seeking gold.

Later dubbed “the Paris of the West,” San Francisco and its population continued to boom as silver was discovered. New Victorian homes emerged as well as the city’s infamous cable cars as the wealthy could climb the steep hills with ease.

Tourism:
There is much to do and see in San Francisco, so much so that you will certainly never be bored. The museums such as the California Academy of Sciences at Golden Gate Park or the Exploratorium at the Marina are exciting excursions for nature lovers. Of course no activity to San Fran would be complete without a visit to the Fisherman’s Wharf where you can check out tons of restaurants, boutiques and entertainment offerings. San Francisco is also famous for its winding roads where you can spend a day (or several days) exploring one its 40 diverse neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Bayview and Nob Hill. With all of these exciting attractions, it's no wonder San Francisco moving companies are so busy.
