History: 
In 1882, Oceanside was founded by Andrew Jackson Myers. The city was incorporated on July 3rd six years later. The city hall is located on the land where Myers once lived.  The first major residential area began in Downtown Oceanside in the 1890s. South Oceanside was built up and populated during the 1920s and 1930s. Camp Pendleton was erected in 1942 in response to World War II.
