Anaheim, California

Incorporated as a city for the first time in 1870, Anaheim is the 10th largest city in California and is home to over 330,000 residents. It is part of the Los Angeles - Long Beach - Santa Ana metropolitan area, which is home to over 12 million people. Anaheim is located on the Santa Ana River in Southern California. Anaheim operates its own utilities – affording residents and businesses lower rates than other local municipalities. Centrally located with access to several airports, Anaheim offers fast and convenient access to everywhere you want to go. With the warm climate much of the year, this area provides a spectacular location for those interested in moving to Anaheim.

Economy:
The tourist industry plays an influential role in shaping Anaheim’s economy -- attracting nearly 45 million domestic and international travelers annually for business and leisure. Tourism industry spending supports approximately 160,000 jobs in the local area. The consistent employment opportunities are the reason why people use Anaheim moving companies to relocate. Anaheim and the surrounding Orange County remains one of the leading convention sites in the nation, hosting more than one million conventions and meeting attendees annually. The top private employers in the city are Disneyland Resort, Kaiser Permanente, Northgate Gonzalez Supermarkets, Anaheim Memorial Hospital Medical Center and AT&T.

History:
Many people credit Walt Disney with putting Anaheim on the map for establishing Disneyland in 1955. But German immigrants marked the city's first claim to fame more than 100 years ago with wine grapes. When it was founded, Anaheim was situated on 1,165 acres. Settlers voted to call the community Annaheim, the "anna" referring to the Santa Ana River and "heim" meaning home in German. The community quickly grew into what was then the state's wine capital, within 10 years, the colony had 47 wineries and several vineyards. Unfortunately, a rash of plant viruses in the 1880s killed off most of the grapes, and residents began growing oranges. Anaheim was content with citrus crops until 1955, when the Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway and Disneyland opened and city leaders began investing in tourism.

Tourism:
Anaheim offers a wide array of unique activities throughout the city such as the Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Museum and the Featherly Regional Park. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to watching two major league sports teams, the NHL's Mighty Ducks play at the Arrowhead Pond arena and the Los Angeles Angels host their MLB opponents at Angel Stadium. The Oak Canyon Nature Center, a 58-acre natural park, is nestled in the Anaheim Hills. Downtown Anaheim hosts events ranging from a Farmer's Market to dancing under the stars and a family skate on one of two rinks at Anaheim Ice.
