Known as the “Gateway to Latin America,” Miami is a worldwide destination that an estimated 12 million people visit every year. From night clubs to gorgeous beaches and a hopping arts district, Miami will surely be an exciting destination for those moving here. The city itself is a part of Miami Dade County that includes Miami Beach, Homestead and Key Biscayne. With over 3.5 million residents, it’s no wonder why Miami moving companies are so busy.

Miami is an important trade center since it is within close proximity to Latin America and the Caribbean. History:
A newer city, Miami was founded by Europeans that was later claimed by Spain. The area was known as “Biscayne Bay County” during its early years that were signified as having promise in Florida; however, in 1894 the great freeze wrecked havoc on the area and little crops survived. Miami prospered in the 1920s whose population grew following World War II. There was also a huge population boom when Fidel Castro took over Cuba causing more people to move.

There is much to see and do in the lively city of Miami. The South Beach Art Deco District is a great place to check out new artists as well as explore the boutiques on Lincoln Road. No day in Miami would be complete with checking out South Beach. With miles and miles of sandy beaches, Miami is a great place to relax and soak in the warm sun. Miami is also a great destination for kids with the Miami Metrozoo, Seaquarium, Miami Children’s Museum, Monkey Jungle and the Miami Museum of Science.
