Children’s Problems Related to your Relocation
Relocating can be most difficult on children. Some children may be very vocal about their troubles settling in. Other children may let you know in a subtler manner. Here are some telltale signals that your child may be having a hard time adjusting to their new home:
  • Change in sleep patterns
  • Loss of appetite
  • Loss of interest in hobbies
  • Not wanting to leave the house
  • Escalated mood swings
  • Being uncharacteristically argumentative
  • Not making new friends
If your child exhibits any of the above signs for an extended period of time, it may be worthwhile to seek out counseling. If your family is moving because of death or divorce it may be beneficial to seek out counseling before you move. In most cases, these symptoms will pass with time but you should be aware of how each of your children is adjusting and try to help ease the adjustment in any way that you can.
